THE LAKE
At the end of the 150-long tunnel, there is a lake created by a dam completed in 1931. The lake is 200 metres long, 10 to 50 metres wide and 1 to 8 metres deep. It is used as a depository for the irrigation of Kolymbia region.
It is the only place in Rhodes where visitors can enjoy a swim in fresh water, cool natural springs and a beautiful forest around the lake. Those wishing to visit the dam and the cascade must turn left as they exit the tunnel.
THE TUNNEL
The water of the springs and river Loutanis is channeled into a tunnel through which it is led to the lake. On the way… The tunnel was constructed by Italian constructors and local workers and was completed in 1931. Its construction, as that of all public works in the area, began in the 1920’s.

ELAFOS & ELAFINA
Hotel Elafos is situated on the edges of Profitis Ilias Mountain, next to the byzantine monastery of Profitis Ilias, 45 kilometers from Rhodes town and 30 kilometers from the airport, at an altitude of 780 meters and almost in the centre of the island, in a green environment with rare vegetation, high pine trees, perennial plane trees and the unique cedar species of “Atlas Cedar”.
The Italians, famous for their aesthetics and the timeless architecture of their buildings, created this lodge in 1929, in order to accommodate Italian army officers. It was named Albergo del Cervo (Deer’s Hotel), after the beautiful, rare and strictly protected deer species of Dama Dama which inhabits in the majestic forest that surrounds the hotel.
The building follows a mixture of masonry and frame of reinforced concrete. The roofing consists of very steep wooden rooftops covered with special corrugated sheets, while the hotel’s exterior is thoroughly decorated with wooden details.
During World War II, it was used as lodge for the Italian officers and later as military German hospital. In 1932, a new independent wing, named Elafina (female deer), was built next to Hotel Elafos, making the complex known as “Elafos-Elafina”. Thence forward it runs as a hotel attracting visitors from all over the world, that wish to admire in close the buildings’ special identity.

LINDOS
Lindos was founded somewhere around 3000 bc by the Dorians and was a major economic center until the 5th century when it was overtaken and passed in importance by the city of Rhodes. The Temple of Athina was built in the 4th century bc and was one of the most sacred places in the ancient world, visited by Alexander the Great, Heracles and Helen of Troy. In the 13th century the Knights of Saint John re-fortified the walls when they built their castle here. The 13th Century Church of Saint John is built on the ruins of an older church from the 6th Century.
Saint Pauls Bay
There are several other beaches nearby including Saint Paul’s Bay, on the south side of the village, named for the Apostle who arrived here in 43 AD bringing Christianity with him. I am sure he’d still recognize the place. It is a perfectly enclosed unique little bay with a nice beach and several restaurants and enough parking to fill the beach 5 times over. If it is full go elsewhere. The beaches to the south like Kiotari are big enough to handle the summer crowds
PRASSONISI
Prasonisi is the Greek word for “green island”. During the summer, and when water levels are low enough, this island is a peninsula attached to Rhodes by a tombolo. During the winter time, and when water levels are high enough, Prasonisi becomes an island. The southernmost tip of Prasonisi contains the Prasonisi Lighthouse. The closest Greek village is Katavia; however, there is a purpose-built settlement on Prasonisi that contains motels, convenience stores, restaurants, and windsurf rentals which are open seasonally. Near Prasonisi is Vroulia, an ancient settlement that contains an old mosaic tiled floor.
KALITHEA SPINGS
Buildings emerging behind the rocks as if they were to complement the work of nature… Pathways swerving in the shade of palm and pine trees… A one of a kind architecture embracing the environment. Pebble-strewn floors like strokes of rock exchanging glances with the emerald green shades of the translucent sea and the cavernous mystery of the natural caves. Every turn becomes the setting for the next perfect image which visitors are bound to enjoy in the site of Kallithea Springs.

NEW TOWN – MANDRAKI
Rhodes’ New Town, this amazing combination of medieval battlements, eclectic 20th-century architecture, tall modern buildings, sandy beach and turquoise waters, has room for everyone. The settlement started growing outside the castle walls after 1522 when the Turks occupied Rhodes and threw all other nationalities out of the Old Town.
Today, what you see around you is indicative of just how busy things are: traditional caique fishing boats alongside luxury mega-yachts; bicycles darting around tour buses; a row of cheesy restaurants trying to attract business with garish photos of Greek salad and moussaka; barkers shouting for custom outside bars and cafés festooned with big bamboo armchairs.
FILERIMOS
A nice place to visit.. In the forest, the church and the huge cross at the end of the road of passions emerge! The archaeological site of the church is ticketed and has specific visiting hours. There are peacocks to be seen in the area Also, opposite the church, there is the road of passions! A path through the cypress trees where the passions of Christ up to His crucifixion can be seen in images! At the end, a small chapel and the huge cross!!! The view is unique from there as you can see the surrounding areas from Faliraki to Paradise and Rhodes in an amphitheater! Symi and Turkey can be seen opposite. Everything you need for a sunset walk!! In the past, the cross was accessible from a small door at its base and you could climb up and see the view from above!!!
